The Design Process
A consultation with a lighting designer can take place either on site or at our showroom. It is advisable for this to happen early on in the project, i.e. before first fix. This will enable the required wiring circuits to be pre-planned. We are sure that you will be aware of the importance of using a fully qualified, approved electrician so that your installation is fully compliant with the current rules and regulations. An in depth discussion will highlight your ideas, visions and ‘wish list’.
If architectural plans are available a copy should be available for our designer. These should be on a scale of 1:50 and preferably show details like ceiling heights, type of ceiling, elevations and positioning of furniture etc. If architectural plans are not available, we can create a sketch plan based on information gathered from your discussion.
After the consultation the plans will be marked up showing wiring circuits, the positioning and type of fitting. A detailed specification will be prepared listing the fittings together with the type of lamp and transformer needed. Where dimming or scene-settings are requested, details will also be included in the specification . A quotation will then be prepared.
At this stage, a second meeting will be arranged.
In addition to lighting, we are also able to plan your switches and sockets etc., these will also be marked up on the plan and details included in the specification.
Our hourly rate is £75 per hour plus VAT. Site visits will be quoted for, the fee will include expenses.
If you are updating just one room in your property, we are equally happy to design this too.
The same information is required i.e. a plan or sketch showing room dimensions and furniture positioning etc. , photographs would also be helpful. We will produce a specification and a quote as above.
Our fee for this service is £125 plus VAT.
Any extra work, i.e. a change of plan will be charged at our hourly fee. Likewise, if a site visit is requested this will be quoted for including expenses.
